๐Ÿ•น๏ธ What is the settings menu?

Using the /settings command, you can change various settings to customize your experience on The Hive.

The menu is divided into various categories, each with its own settings, which you can toggle on or off.

Once you are happy with the changes you have made, make sure to hit the 'Submit' button at the bottom of the category to save them.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Social Settings

These settings control various social features and privacy settings.

Appear Offline

  • This setting controls whether or not you appear offline to other players.
  • When enabled, you will appear offline and not show up in your friends' Hive friends lists, and they will not be able to see which game you are in.

Friend Invites

  • This setting controls whether or not you receive friend invites.
  • When enabled, you will receive friend invites. Disabling this will prevent any player from sending you a friend invite and inform them that you have invites disabled.

Custom Server Invites

  • This setting controls whether or not you receive Custom Server invites.
  • When enabled, you will receive invites to Custom Servers. Disabling this toggle will prevent any player from sending you a custom server invite.

Show Player Messages

  • This setting controls whether or not chat messages from other players are displayed.
  • Toggling the setting off stops chat messages from being displayed. This setting does not affect chat messages that are sent by the game.
  • You can toggle this setting off for your current session (until you next join), or until you turn chat back on.

Receive Friend Notifications

  • This setting controls whether or not you receive notifications when a friend joins or leaves the server.

Share Activity Publicly

  • This setting controls whether or not your in-game activity is publicly shared.
  • When enabled, your activity will be shown on your PlayHive.com Player Profile and available via The Hive Developer API.
  • Toggling this setting off does not hide your statistic; it also does not hide you from leaderboards and normal (non-activity) API requests.
  • Activity includes: rounds (games) played, locker unlocks, and other game- and cosmetic activity. It does not include any private information.

๐ŸŒŽ Experience Settings

These settings allow you to control your experience.

Modern Friend Notifications

  • This setting controls whether you will receive pop-ups (modern friend notifications) or chat messages when a friend joins or leaves the server.
  • When disabled, you will receive friend notifications as chat messages rather than pop-ups.

Show Game Summary After Death

  • This setting controls whether you receive the post-death game summary in certain games.
  • When disabled, the summary menu is not shown after death, but rather after the game ends.

Show Friends Status On Join

  • This setting controls whether you receive a welcome message upon joining the server, which displays your number of online friends and incoming friend invites.
  • If you have no online friends or friend invites when you join, you won't receive the message regardless.

Show Other Players Capes

  • This setting controls whether or not you see capes that other players are wearing (you'll always see your own cape).
  • We have found that capes cause stuttering/freezing (performance) issues in current versions of Minecraft. This setting is disabled by default (you won't see capes), and we recommend keeping it disabled for the best performance.
  • Once the freezing issue is resolved in a Minecraft update, this toggle will be removed, and capes will be re-enabled by default.

๐Ÿงช Experimental Settings

These settings are for experimental and technical features. We recommend that you don't change these settings, as doing so may cause bugs or other problems.

Cross-Region Matchmaking

  • This setting controls whether you are affected by cross-region matchmaking.
  • When disabled, cross-region matchmaking will not be applied to you.
  • We advise against disabling this toggle, as it will significantly increase your queue times and the likelihood of being sent to an empty lobby (especially during off-peak hours).

Chunk Cache

  • This is a technical setting that controls whether your Minecraft client uses Minecraft's Chunk (Blob) Cache.
  • This cache saves chunks to your device, so you don't have to re-download them each time you join a game or hub.
  • This may increase performance and will decrease bandwidth usage. If you experience issues with world loading or experience the so-called 'Nether Glitch' often, disabling this setting may improve your experience.

Enable Vibrant Visuals

  • This setting controls whether Minecraft's Vibrant Visuals graphics mode is enabled.
  • Vibrant Visuals will only work if you have a supported device and have Vibrant Visuals enabled in your Minecraft settings.
  • Enabling this setting may result in degraded performance/lower framerates.
