๐น๏ธ What is the settings menu?
Using the /settings command, you can change various settings to customize your experience on The Hive.
The menu is divided into various categories, each with its own settings, which you can toggle on or off.
Once you are happy with the changes you have made, make sure to hit the 'Submit' button at the bottom of the category to save them.
๐ฅ Social Settings
These settings control various social features and privacy settings.
Appear Offline
This setting toggles whether or not you will appear offline to other players.
When enabled, you will appear offline and not show up in your friends' Hive friends lists, and they will not be able to see which game you are in.
Friend Invites
This setting toggles whether or not you will receive friend invites.
When enabled, you will receive friend invites. Disabling this will prevent any player from sending an invite, and inform them you have invites disabled.
Party Invites
This setting toggles whether or not you will receive party invites.
When enabled, you will receive party invites.
Custom Server Invites
This setting toggles whether or not you will receive Custom Server invites.
When enabled, you will receive invites to Custom Servers.
Receive Friend Notifications
This setting toggles whether or not you will receive notifications when a friend joins or leaves the server.
Send Friend Notifications
This setting toggles whether or not your friends will receive notifications when you join or leave the server.
When enabled, your friends will receive notifications when you join or leave the server.
Share Activity Publicly
This setting toggles whether or not your in-game activity is publicly shared.
When enabled, your activity will be shown on your PlayHive.com Player Profile, and available using the Hive Developer API.
Disabling this does not hide your statistics, it also does not hide you from leaderboards and normal (non-activity) API requests.
Activity includes: rounds (games) played, locker unlocks, and other game- and cosmetic activity. It does not include any private information.
๐ Experience Settings
These settings allow you to control your experience.
Modern Friend Notifications
This setting toggles whether you will receive pop-ups (modern friend notifications), or chat messages when a friend joins or leaves the server.
When disabled, you will receive friend notifications as a chat message, rather than a pop-up.
Show Friends Status On Join
This setting toggles the receiving of your friends status on join: when enabled, you receive a "Welcome to The Hive" message and the number of online friends, as well as the amount of incoming friend invites.
If the number of online friends AND the number of incoming friend invites is both zero, you won't receive the message regardless of this toggle.
Show Other Players Capes
This setting toggles the visibility of capes on other players (you'll always see your own cape).
We have found that capes cause a stuttering/freezing (performance) issue in current Minecraft versions. This toggle is disabled by default (you won't see capes), and we recommend keeping it disabled for the best performance.
Once the freezing issue is resolved in a Minecraft update, this toggle will be removed, and capes will be re-enabled by default.
๐งช Experimental Settings
These settings are for experimental and technical features. We recommend that you don't change these settings, as doing so may cause bugs or other problems.
Experimental: Chunk Cache
This setting toggles whether or not you will use Minecraft's Chunk (Blob) Cache.
This cache saves chunks to your device, which means you won't have to re-download them each time you join a game or a hub.
This may increase performance and will decrease bandwidth usage. If you experience issues with world loading or experience the so-called 'Nether Glitch' often, disabling this toggle may improve your experience.
Cross-Region Matchmaking
This setting toggles whether or not you wish to be affected by cross-region matchmaking.
When disabled, cross-region matchmaking will not be applied to you.
We advise against disabling this toggle, as this will greatly increase your queue times, and the chances of you being sent to an empty lobby (especially during off-peak hours).
